VIETNAMESE YOUTH LEADERSHIP SUMMIT 2021

PRESS RELEASE

Lyceum is proud to present a youth-led project initiated by a team of 5 interns from ICEVN (Institute for Civic Education in Vietnam) to promote leadership and volunteerism among youth of age 14-18 in Vietnam through a 3-day online virtual summit (August 14, 15, and 21). The event is a Vietnamese Youth Leadership Summit (VYLS) with the theme “Inside Yourself – Unleash the power from within you!”.

DATE: 14/8, 15/8 & 21/8/2021
TIME: 9 AM – 12 PM (Vietnam time)
LOCATION: Zoom Online

VYLS 2021 aims to develop leadership skills for students of age 14-18 in Vietnam through self-empowerment, to become self-confident, resilient and committed to creating positive changes in themselves, in their family and in the community.

This will be accomplished by incorporating the GRACE mindset and framework which assists students in developing their internal traits as a leader. The program will also teach the students how to work as a team, and how to lead a project. Through the GRACE values (Gratitude – Respect – Accountability – Courage and Engagement), the project will inspire the youth to take ownership of their personal and student life and create positive experiences for themselves and people around them, to become a light for others.

Our target audience is the group of teenagers of age 14-18 who are currently residing in Vietnam. Adolescent age is an age group with several challenges. They need a lot of guidance through their development process both personally and socially. The organizing team identifies an emergent trend from this age group in Vietnam to be engaging in social initiatives. Through the GRACE framework, VYLS will help them to develop more leadership skills to conduct these social change projects. The program also helps them to develop life skills in order to cope with daily challenges such as cultural identity, lack of self-confidence, self-image and self-worth. For youths who are already active and engaging in social activities, this program will provide them with resources and training to develop their capabilities to initiate and sustain social and civic engagement projects.

After attending VYLS, these teenagers will become more confident, more motivated to community service, and better equipped to cope with any obstacles in life. They will also become more active in the community and can deliver community service projects more effectively.
