The event will bring you 3 unique perspectives of a doctor, a parent and a teacher working with autistic children – sharing with you their own experience and best practices that can add to your tool box of strategies to effectively work/raise your children.

Quỳnh Kiều MD is a pediatrician and founder of Project Vietnam Foundation, an international health program started in 1996 initially as a project of the American Academy of Pediatrics AAP California Chapter. Project Vietnam brings healthcare assistance to needy rural communities and provides training to healthcare personnel. To date PVF teams of volunteers have performed over 3,000 free surgeries for children with eye and facial deformities, and served over 100,000 needy families and children offering medical/dental/vision care and public health services (programs to treat anemia and malnutrition and giving clean water), as well as training for personnel at all levels of the healthcare delivery system. PVF flagship program brought the Neonatal Resuscitation Program of the AAP in 2004 to train 230 national instructors at 14 centers and continued to offer Updates and further training, which contributed to decrease Vietnam newborn mortality by 5%. Since 2010 PVF has offered the Bright Futures training which supports healthcare staff, teachers and family by sharing successful programs for Children with Special Needs implemented by the AAP and US recognized institutions. She features regularly on the Vietnamese language media for the last 3 decades. She has received the “Pride of the Profession” award of the American Medical Association, and multiple recognitions by the AAP, as well as “Excellence in Pediatrics” by the University of California Irvine, “Woman of the Year” by the California Assembly, and “Woman of Courage” by ABC News and the “Clara Barton award” by the Red Cross.

Claudia Taboada has a B. Sc. in Biochemistry and an LL.B. in Common Law from the University of Ottawa. She is a former labor and employment attorney, a disability rights advocate, a health and wellness advocate, an author, an entrepreneur, a women’s empowerment coach and motivational speaker, living in Montréal. Claudia’s most precious and important role is that of being a devoted mom to her two sons Nico and Alex. Nico has autism and for close to 9 years Claudia was his full-time caregiver as well as his teacher. Claudia recently published a memoir entitled ”Burnout to Unstoppable’’ which details her transformational journey from overwhelmed and burned out autism mom to a mom who rediscovered her identity and is going after her dreams with confidence. Claudia accomplished her transformation by incorporating daily habits and self-care strategies that enabled her to reclaim her physical, mental and emotional health.

Ms. Youngson, born into a military family, experienced her childhood spread all over Canada and Europe. The frequent moves and interactions with different peoples, cultures, and languages, ingrained in her belief that strength is found in diversity. Ms. Youngson’s education (B.A, B.Ed – Specialization in Special Education, and Guidance – Diplôme d’études 1ère cycle, Master Certificate in HR) spans many universities in Canada and Europe. Ms. Youngson is a life-long learner; she speaks three languages fluently, and is learning a fourth.As an educator, Ms. Youngson’s enduring dedication to her students’ learning motivates her to develop new ways of meeting each student where they are developmentally. Working with neural atypical students (those with autism, ASD, ADHD), she creates engaging lessons that develop and support academic, personal, and social growth. Ms. Youngson is committed to working with other educators, parents, and all stakeholders, to not only challenge her students, but to inspire them to reach their potential and to achieve their dreams.
