Navigating interpersonal communication is challenging under “normal” conditions and can be even more challenging during this twilight zone called the COVID era. We are all experiencing significant change around us and working to identify new ways to navigate relationships in confined quarters – prompted by “stay-at-home” orders. Learning how to effectively engage in healthy interpersonal communication requires (1) understanding the emotion and intentions behind the information as well as; (2) listening in a way that gains the full meaning of what is being said and makes the other person feel heard and understood. The conditions of our current environment by default has propelled us into facing those communication challenges that we may have avoided or deferred for some finite time.
This one-hour webinar is not designed to make you an expert in communication, rather it will provide some practical strategies and tools to help you navigate the interpersonal communication maze by applying healthier means to communicate more effectively.
By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:
– List the most common relationship challenges during COVID and beyond.
– Define healthy and unhealthy interpersonal communication patterns.
– Identify common barriers and behavior cycles that prevent healthy communication exchanges.
– Identify listening barriers that influence how we communicate in interpersonal relationships.
– Identify your most and least used communication styles and tone.
– Identify and apply five skills to improve interpersonal communication.
– Develop an action plan and implement healthy interpersonal communication in your day to day interactions.
